Benefits for Housing Choice Voucher Landlords
- Rental payments arrive to the landlord in two parts: Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) (Section 8) participants pay their portion of the rent as determined by HACPFC using criteria established HUD. The additional rental amount is paid by HACPFC in the form of timely Housing Assistance Payments (HAP).
- Tenants are pre-screened by HACPFC for HCV (Section 8) program admission but the owner retains the right and responsibility to screen and select tenants. HACPFC highly recommends that landlords check potential tenant references from at least two previous landlords.
- HACPFC’s HCV (Section 8) program maintains a consistent waitlist – there is no shortage of potential applicants.
- The lease between the owner and the occupant shall be for at least one year.
